Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has said that in the new dispensation, he has offered to take up the role of the deep state and protect the interests of the government led by President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua. Sonko said that he would not forget the frustrations that he went through during the regime of former President Uhuru Kenyatta noting that the deep state in Uhuru’s government had turned against the President’s friends. Sonko recalled how Uhuru's government had turned against all those who supported his rise to the Presidency for two terms. “I cannot forget how all of us who supported the president and helped him to be President for two terms was turned against,” Sonko said. He praised Gachagua for his speech during the inauguration at Kasarani stadium in which he openly told Uhuru the truth. Sonko said he would now take the role of the real deep state in government and he would deal with anyone who jokes with the president and his deputy.
