Reuben Ndolo Congratulates New Assembly Leadership

Former Makadara Member of Parliament Reuben Ndolo has congratulated the new Nairobi County Assembly leadership led by newly appointed Leader of the Majority Makongeni Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Peter Imwatok, Upper Savannah ward representative Stazo Omungala and Kilimani’s Moses Ogeto.

Ndolo said that under the leadership of Imwatok, the immediate former minority whip, the Azimio La Umoja Oke Kenya brigatde in the city Couty would steere the county to better legislation and good service delivery.

“I have seen the Makongeni ward MCA Imwatok work for his people and for his party ODM and I have confidence in his leadership now that he has been named the leader of the majority which is Azimio,” Ndolo noted.

Imwatok, the vocal MCA took the house leadership role after intense lobbyng as he battled for the position with his South C counterpart Abbas Khalif.

Abbas is said to have spent money running into millions in a bid to lobby for the party supports but lost to Imwatok, popularly known as Jateso even as Omungala and Ogeto grabbed other positions.

Makadara MP George Aladwa is said to have caused the loss of Abbas after a sudden turn of events where Aladwa shifted allegiance in the last minute. Aladwa was a staunch supporter of Omungala for the position but withdrew hi support to rally behind Abbas in a move that was suspected to have been inspired by bribery.

Abbas is said to have paid him millions of shillings to lobby for him to get the position with the promise to use his closeness to Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga to help him secure the seat.

Aladwa who has been fighting Imwatok almost all his entire political life is said to be afraid of Imwatok who he fear might use his influence to contest for the MP position in the next general election and would unseat him.

Raila is said to be comfortable with the leadership of Imwatok who was very instrumental in the last assembly as Minority leader. Raila has earlier on told SG Sifuna to communicate to the Speaker of the decision of the party to Imwatok to lead the house as Majority.
