A Promise for Better Transport System as Igathe Hits the Road Running
Nairobi Governor Aspirant Polycarp has continued with his grassroots meetings across Nairobi as he intensifies his campaigns ahead of the August 9th general elections.
Igathe today went on a meet the people tour of Industrial area where he promised to use his vast experience in the corporate world to ensure the production sector thrives as a way to better the lives of Nairobi residents.
Igathe, who previously worked at Haco industries and Cocacola company prides in vast knowledge of hoe industries operate and promised to ensure Nairobi experiences a revolution in the area of industrial production.
This, he said will be actualised by ensuring that the transport infrastructure is transformed. According to the Azimio La Umoja gubernatorial flag bearer, the city will thrive as a business hub if roads and the rail system are fixed to enhance efficient transportation.
Igathe toured various areas of the city including a stop at the Tmall junction, Nairobi West, Nyayo Junction, Industrial area and Land Mawe all in Langata and Starehe constituencies.
This week alone, Igathe has made inroads to other areas ncluding Kamukunji, Kawangware and Dagoretti.
Yesterday, Igathe made a trip on the Nairobi commuter train from Ruiru to Nairobi CBD where he had a chance to interact with the commuters and exchanged ideas on how the rail system can be improved.
“Nairobi was born with the railway and it will be transformed with the railway. We plan to decongest Nairobi and one way is to invest in the railway,” Igathe promised.
His trip in the train, which charges between Ksh 40 and 50 for the trip from Ruiru to the CBD was inspired by the consistency that has been depicted by various members of his team who Igathe said have preferred using the train than road transport for the last five years to escape the daily rush hour traffic congestion as well as affordability.
Igathe has vowed to pitch camp at the grassroots in his journey, with his running mate former Kibwezi Member of Parliament Prof. Philip Kaloki, to transform Nairobi.
Among the areas that Igathe has laid focus on is fixing the transport sector, the expansion of markets, provision of clean safe drinking water and better healthcare services in a bid to improve the quality of life within the city county.
