Mwengi Mutuse Meets Kibwezi Teachers Leadership
Kibwezi West parliamentary race frontrunner Hon. Mwengi Mutuse has today met with the entire leadership of Kibwezi teachers in his meet the people campaign tours in the region.
Education being one of his main pillars in his manifesto, Mutuse is seeking a collaboration with the teaching fraternity to seek improvement of the education standards in his constituency.
"Education is a key enabler of socio- economic advancement and an equalizer in society", he said
Over the years, schools in Kibwezi West have been performing well in national exams despite many challenges associated with poverty in the kamba region and underfunding by the government.
The leaders drawn from KNUT, KEPSHA, different zonal welfare groups and KWETU Sacco discussed ways of improving the education standards and general environment in Kibwezi's primary schools.
"Education at all levels is a key pillar in my quest for leadership. Among others, we are agitating for truly free government funded education for pre- school to first degree in the University including free CBC teaching aids. We want proper investment in education infrastructure for classrooms, offices, etc. We want provision of food to keep learners confortable in schools. We equally advocate for the welfare of teachers. This is possible through the national budget", he added.
Over the past ten years, Hon. Mutuse has led initiatives that have done infrastructure projects in schools, donated revision books as well as helped needy students with scholarships and bursaries in Kibwezi. He has also worked very closely with teachers, BOM’s and other education stakeholders in uplifting education standards in the area.
"I’m amazed by the wealth of knowledge and zeal that our teachers have towards bettering our education standards and systems. Going forward, we shall consult even more closely all the way to the staff room to hear the views of the class teacher", said Mutuse as he promised to oversee Kibwezi West become the best constituency in terms of education.
