My Three Point Agenda and Vision for Nairobi: Igathe Speaks Out

Incoming Nairobi Governor Polycarp Igathe has outlined his plans and vision of transforming Nairobi County into a prosperous city that will benefit every Nairobian.

Igathe who is running on an Azimio La Umoja ticket intends to make his vision a reality through his three pillar agenda.

Imarisha Uchumi

In his first agenda known as “Imarisha Uchumi” (Building/Developing the Economy), targets making Nairobi’s economy vibrant through the empowerment of Youth, Women Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and busniess by provision of capital to start and expand their business.

The incoming governor plans to facilitate issuance of title deeds so that Nairobians can start investing on their parcels of land.

In the Imarisha Uchumi agenda, Igathe intends to develop the city’s existing 85 Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) institutions in order to empower the youth with skills so that they can promote Nairobi’s economy.
Once elected Igathe will harmonise the 12 trading licenses issued to traders in Nairobi to one in order to facilitate the growth and legitimacy of running enterprises amongst hawkers and small scale business ventures

Mazingira Safi

Under the Mazingira Safi (Clean Environment) agenda, the Igathe administration will streamline the operations of garbage collection.

His administration will pay garbage collectors based on population density as opposed to old formula of distance from garbage site and weight.

Igathe will improve on sanitation in Nairobi by repairing and expanding the sewer line to meet the growing demands of Nairobians due to the increased population.

He will ensure that adequate street lights have been installed across all the 85 wards in Nairobi to enhance security and beautification

Huduma Bora

Just as the name Huduma Bora in swahili translated into English to mean quality service, the Igathe Administration will be focused on a satisfactory service delivery to the residents of Nairobi.

Igathe’s office will work on improving the welfare conditions of the Nairobi City County Government popularly known as 'Kanjo’ workers and ensuring that their salaries are paid in time.

Igathe will put in place measures for a working health care system with well equipped health centres across the 85 wards in Nairobi.
