Bunge La Mwananchi Files Petition Against Nairobi Attorney Lydia Kwamboka at EACC.

The Peoples’ Parliament known as Bunge La Mwananchi has petitioned the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate and prosecute Lydia Kwamboka for corruption at City Hall.   The Bunge La Mwananchi President Edward Githaiga accused Kwamboka of engaging in corrupt deals and occupying the office of the County Attorney illegally.   In a letter addressed to the EACC Chief Executive Officer, Githaiga petitioned the anti-graft body to investigate the continued stay of Kwamboka in office. On July 29th, 2021 Members of County Assembly (MCAs) resolved to terminate the services of County Attorney Lydia Kwamboka. The ward representatives adopted a report by the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee that recommended for termination of the contract of Kwamboka for abuse of office and operating without a valid advocate practicing certificate. Soccer Journalist Dies at World Cup After Collapsing at Argentina Game

Grant Wahl, a highly regarded soccer journalist who wrote extensively on the game, died Friday in Qatar, where he was covering the World Cup quarterfinal match between Argentina and the Netherlands. Wahl’s agent, Tim Scanlan, confirmed the death in a phone interview on Friday night. Scanlan said that Wahl had been in the press box in the closing minutes of the match when he went into acute distress. He is believed to have died, Scanlan said, at a hospital in Qatar or while he was being taken to one, after feeling unwell as the tournament proceeded. “He wasn’t sleeping well, and I asked him if he tried melatonin or anything like,” Scanlan said. “He said, ‘I just need to like relax for a bit.’” According to two New York Times journalists who were present, medical personnel performed chest compressions and other treatment for about 20 minutes before Wahl was taken out of Lusail Iconic Stadium. Freedom of Worship Under Threat in Nairobi as Sakaja Targets Churches & Mosques in Crackdown

Days after closing night clubs operating in residential areas, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has shifted focus to places of worship in the Kenyan capital city. In a tweet, Sakaja says that they closed nightclubs after failing to heed and adhere to the county government’s warning on noise pollution adding that the places of worship will also suffer a similar fate. "Even with the nightclubs; we didn’t start by shutting them down. We spoke to them over time and they agreed to comply but some ignored it. Then we took action," he said. Nairobians from various religions faulted Sakaja for likening places of worship to bars arguing that churches and mosques are more disciplined compared to drunk revelers. Nairobi County Markets Director, Joyce Kyengo Blamed in Row Over City Park Stalls Allocation

The long row over the irregular allocation of market stalls at the Nairobi City Park market has continued to haunt the Nairobi County Markets Department Director Joyce Kyengo following a petition that has now been filed by the City Park Hawkers Development Project seeking an audience with Nairobi Governor and the adherence to the prerogative court orders that directed the that the old City Park traders be allocated spaces at the market. According to the group, city park hawkers development project whose matter was heard ex-parte a the Milimani law courts (Judicial Review No.E074 of 2021), all fingers point at the county markets director who allegedly oversaw the irregular allocation of stalls to new traders after renovations following a fire that razed down the market in 2015.
