Big Boost for Lucy Mworia as Women Endorse Her for Isiolo North MP Race

Isiolo, Tuesday 21st June, 2022: Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Coalition Party National Coalition Executive Council (NCEC) second Deputy Treasurer Lucy Mworia has received a major boost after women leaders in Isiolo North unanimously endorsed her candidature for the parliamentary seat.

The award winning medic is vying on a Devolution Empowerment Party (BUS party) ticket at the upcoming August 9th, 2022 general elections.

Women leaders said that the former Ms President Reality TV Show contestant and social activist has been at the forefront in campaigning for better education for Isiolo children as well as advocating for peaceful coexistence in the volatile upper eastern region and is therefore the best person to represent the constituency.

“Lucy is the mother of Isiolo North and you know where mothers come in, things are in order,” said Esther Kagwiri, a women leader in the area.

Kagwiria spoke at a meeting attended by over 100 women drawn from six women groups from different areas of Isiolo North constituency.

“We are firmly behind the candidature of our sister Lucy Mworia who has demonstrated to have the best interests of Isiolo North at heart. She for three times stood for elections and her bids were not successful. Despite not winning, Lucy has remained with us at the ground and she has demonstrated her will to change our constituency,” she said.

“We are committed to go in the journey that Lucy has started to spearhead a positive transformation of Isiolo North. This race is full of men candidates who have been trying to discredit her but her recent appointment as the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Coalition party National Coalition Executive Council (NCEC) second Deputy Treasurer is testament that she is the best we have in Isiolo North,” Said another women leader Farthia Ahmed.

In thanking the women, Mworia said that she will uphold the commitment that she had made to the people of Isiolo North.

“Today I am humbled to have your endorsement for the race. I will be your candidate and this is our race. I believe together we shall concur,” Lucy Mworia said.

Mworia has during her campaigns maintained that the BUS party advocates for peace and co-existence and has placed peace as one of her key pillars alongside education.

“My priorities, once elected the MP for Isiolo North will be in the areas of education and security with an emphasis on technical skills to address the issue of unemployment as well as curb insecurity. If education is catered for in the model I am advocating in Isiolo, it would solve several other issues and as you know, dealing with an educated society is easier to solve their problems,” she said.
