Kalonzo’s Bid for Wiper Endorsement Backfires as Raila Embrace All in Machakos

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was left a dejected man after his bid to have his party candidates endorsed by Azimio flag bearer Raila Odinga fell on deaf ears.

During a meet the people campaign tour in the Ukambani region accompanying other Azimio Party leaders Kalonzo had a well orchestrated plan to flex his political muscles in the vote rich Machakos county.

According to reliable sources, Musyoka planned to have his competitors silenced and forced to political oblivion through an endorsement of Wiper Only candidates in the area.
However this plan did not materialise as it was met with total revolts from the residents as well as several leaders present in the campaign tour.

Azimio-OKA flag bearer Raila Odinga stayed out of the petty politicking of his former deputy and chose to embrace all aspirants under the coalition.

Machakos Gubernatorial candidate Nzioka Waita and Senatorial frontrunner John Mutua Katuku also focused on their development agenda and rallied the residents to desist from petty personality politics that has led to lack of development in the region.
Waita further warned Kalonzo to avoid attempts to force leaders on the Machakos people but rather let them have the final decision on the leadership they want.

These events pointed at an emergence of a new political leadership front in the Ukambani region mainly driven by people being tired of past poor leadership due to petty party politics.

"This time round we want development not political parties. Wiper has always been there with no tangible development agenda", a resident in the campaign trail lamented.
Waita and Katuku both running on CCU and PTP respectively under the Azimio Coalition have based their campaigns on a development agenda, a move that has been well embraced by the locals making them the candidates to beat in the forthcoming general election elections.
