Viwandani Residents Protest Over Distribution of Expired Food by Makadara MP Aladwa
Aladwa distributes expired foodstuff to residents of Viwandani.
The MP who is seeking to get re-elected distributed the food as a campaign tool to woo voters by taking advantage of the skyrocketing food prices.
The excited residents received the foodstuff and started praising him but before the dust settled down they realized that they had been duped after checking on the expiry dates of the products and started cursing the MP.
The song and dance have now ended and turned into curses and abuses being hurled at Aladwa who was being praised for being their savior to a villain for risking their lives as Viwandani is now in a somber mood.
The distribution was done in the eyes of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna who is seeking the Nairobi senatorial seat and the incumbent Nairobi Women's Representative Esther Passaris who is seeking to be re-elected who was campaigning in the area.
Upon realizing the scam, Kenyaonlinenews.com conducted investigations where it realized that Aladwa had colluded with a wealthy Nairobi Member of County Assembly (MCA) aspirant who owns a food processing company in the industrial area to distribute the expired products considered to be a health hazard which was destined to be dumped and destroyed but were instead diverted as relief to the unsuspecting residents.
The investigations showed that the MP who is running out of campaign funds as the election dates draw nearer employed the scheme to woo voters by spending less in order to counter the threat by his parliamentary political rival Anthony Waithaka aka Anto who is making inroads to his strongholds.
Waithaka's entry into the race is giving Aladwa sleepless nights forcing the outgoing MP to employ dirty tactics at the expense of the residents who survive on less than one dollar (Ksh100) per day whom he knew are hungry and poor to afford three meals a day and will not bother to check on expiry dates before his plans were discovered.
The residents are now calling on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate the malpractice and bring the perpetrators to book.
The residents have started throwing away the food donations cursing Aladwa for taking them for granted by risking their health and lives for his own personal gains of getting votes.
